Shelley Banks is a professional writer with more than 30 years of writing experience, including a decade as a reporter with The Vancouver Sun, and several years of freelance work with a wide range of trade, consumer and corporate magazines.
She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of B.C. and an MA in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario. She has lived in Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa — and also in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands — and she is now based in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Her work has appeared in leading literary magazines, as well as in newspapers and trade, consumer and corporate publications across Canada.
In addition to extensive newspaper experience, Shelley Banks worked for more than 15 years in senior corporate communications roles, in which she created media and marketing plans, designed and developed content for web sites, and crafted newsletters, news releases, speeches, reports and a wide range of other materials.
